On August 10, 2016, INTIA organized in Funes the II Conference "Reduction of the use of herbicides in horticulture through binadoras" within the framework of the LIFE AGROintegra Project. It was attended by more than 50 people, including technicians from the agribusiness of Navarre and CC. AA. and farmers. For the second consecutive year, attendees at this conference were very interested in this new alternative for the elimination of weeds in broccoli and thistle crops, which allows reducing the use of herbicides in crops.
In the first part of the day, at Virto's facilities in Funes, the technicians of the companies explained to the attendees the particularities of each machine and the INTIA technician José Jesús Pérez de Ciriza, commented "the importance of the correct use of the winemakers in organic cultivation, minor crops and crops that want to be obtained with zero residue of phytosanitary products".
The technician also pointed out the importance of the binadora pass with small weeds and well-established cultivation.
This second demonstration of winemakers has the interest to show three types of winemakers very different in construction and price, as well as the work they do on the whole surface. On the one hand, Treffler's Tined TS, presented by Aurora Agrícola and Robocrop In row by Garford, presented by AAMS with interline and interplant work; and on the other, with work only between crop lines, Maschio-Gaspardo's HS binadora presented by Garde Workshops.
Afterwards, the attendees were able to see first, on a plot planted with broccoli at a width of 120-60-120 cm, the three participating machines on site. With the Tined TS, the entire surface is worked with the Tined TS biner. The flexible tines must be adjusted so as not to damage the plants and remove weeds so that they dry out.
Maschio's HS binadora works at greater depth but only between lines, its regulation is fast and consists of manual control of the pressure and inclination of the tines so as not to damage the plants.
The attendees then moved to the municipality of Villafranca, to a plot of thistle planted at a width between lines of 120 cm by 90 cm between plants, where the problem of weeds was wider and also more developed. The machines of the companies Maschio Gaspardo, and Aurora Agrícola, demonstrated their different capacity to eliminate them and respect for the crop.
The day ended around 1 p. m. and the INTIA technicians thanked everyone for their attendance, especially the participating companies and Virto technicians for their collaboration.
